Analeentha took part in the 6th class indoor hurling tournament at the Nagle Rice hall in Doneraile on Wednesday April 2nd. Still without our first choice goalkeeper Luke Brophy (out through injury), we faced tough opposition in our first group game against Baltydaniel. We held our own in the early stages thanks to two Conor Corbett goals, but conceded some goals in the latter stages and eventually lost 6-2, and also lost Cian O’Connell to a finger injury. With only one team from either group to qualify for the final, we couldn’t afford any more slip-ups in our remaining games. We rose to the challenge, and despite going behind early on to Charleville CBS, three Conor Corbett goals saw us come out on top by 3 goals to 1. Our next game against Killavullen finished on a 4-0 score-line as goals from Adam Rodgers (2), Conor Corbett and Aidan Walsh proved enough. By the time our final group game came around Baltydaniel had already qualified for the final, making the result of our game against Mitchelstown CBS immaterial. Despite this, we battled on bravely before going down 4-1, with Conor Corbett again getting our goal. We can count ourselves somewhat unfortunate to have been drawn in the more competitive group as Doneraile CBS, who won all of their group games, were outclassed by a very good Baltydaniel team on a score of 7-2 in the final. Well done to all the boys who took part: Adam Rodgers, Aidan Walsh, Barry Walsh, Ben Buckley, Cian O’Connell, Conor Corbett and Eoin Walsh. We would like to wish Cian a speedy recovery.
